The artist
Mya Kerner, a multidisciplinary artist based in Seattle (at time of installation). Mya is known for her two and three-dimensional visual art that explores personal ancestry, storytelling, and ecological concern through depictions of landscape. Her wire mountain installation extrudes the contours of the mountains, forming a fragile independent framework made up of 16- and 18-gauge annealed steel wire. Reaching as high as 31 feet, the mountain is suspended from the ceiling and takes shape when viewed from the second floor.
